October 2012 Birchbox

Last month’s Birchbox was a bit of a disappointment, so I was really looking forward to this month to decide whether I wanted to keep my subscription or not.  October’s box did not disappoint!

My little box of goodies included:

– Harvey Prince Eau Flirt – Lavender Pumpkin – 100 ml

– theBalm® cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer

– Mox Botanicals Lip Butter

– Mighty Leaf Tea – Tea Pouches

– LiQWd The Perfect Wave

– LiQWd SiLK Professional Deep Conditioning Treatment

I think my favorite out of the box was the Mary-Lou Manizer.  I’ve been using it everyday with my eye shadow to highlight my brow bone.  The Mox Botanicals Lip Butter smells tropical, and if I didn’t have so much lip product, I would totally buy it.  The perfume smells wonderful, but once again, I have way too much perfume.  I was so happy to get the tea pouches as a little extra in my box – I love tea, and love Mighty Leaf Tea.  I have not tried any of the LiQWd products yet.

I’m very happy with this month’s box, and am looking forward to what Birchbox has planned for the holidays.  If you want to get your Birchbox, click here.

August 2012 Birchbox

Since I posted last month’s Birchbox review waaaaay too late, I figured I’d get this one up ASAP!  And, as a side note, I’m munching on a Larabar that I bought after I tried the sample in last month’s box – so delish!

I got my box on Wednesday, and I’m a little disappointed with it.  First, I only received 4 samples and a bonus, which felt like a little bit of a let down.  Then the samples I did receive were average.

First was the Schick Hydro Silk Razor.  This was the bonus item, and while razors are great, I’m pretty sure most women own a razor.  I have one, I love it, I don’t plan on changing it.  I actually bought the Schick Hydro Silk Razor when I was moving because I couldn’t find my regular razor, and I was not impressed with it.  So now I have an extra razor that I already own.

Next up was the Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream.  I used it and I wasn’t a huge fan of the smell.  But I have seen it at Sephora, so I figure I’ll use it then judge it.

I also got Caldrea Hand Soap samples.  I was not excited about these.  I haven’t tried them yet, but when I opened the box and saw them, it was one of those, “really, I got a sample of hand soap” moments.  Maybe it’s because I don’t spend $11 on hand soap – I buy Method ones at Target and love them.  I mean, I have them, so I will try them.

Then there was the perfume sample, Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy La Fleur.  While I like this scent, I just bought perfume last month.  I already own way too many perfumes, and probably enough sample sized perfumes to last me a year.  While sometimes its nice to have perfume, I hope they stop sending me perfume samples.

The winner of the box was stila smudge stick waterproof eye liner.  This one I am planning on purchasing.  I am in love.  I have it in black, but its not your typical black – it has sparkles in it, but not in an over-the-top way – more of a subtle sparkle.  I don’t think its very waterproof, but I’m happy with it nonetheless and will be buying this in the near future.

So while this box wasn’t a complete win, I did find an awesome new eyeliner.  I am going to keep getting it – hopefully next month’s box is AWESOME!

July 2012 Birch Box

I have a new favorite thing.  It’s Birchbox, and it’s like a little box of fun every month.  This was the first month I’ve subscribed to it.  After I received the e-mail that it had shipped, this was me:

I also googled every day to see what others had received.  I’m not going to do that again – it would be more fun as just a surprise!  When my box finally arrived, I was like a kid on Christmas.

My little box of fun included bronzer from Ada Cosmetics, Hello perfume by Harvey Prince, lip enhancer from Jouer, a lip stain by theBalm cosmetics, an uber granola bar by Larabar, and earbuds.

I’m not a huge fan of the bronzer, because it sparkles a little too much for everyday.  The lip enhancer is nice, but I think the lip stain doesn’t stay long.  The granola bar was delicious (note to self: pick some up from Target!), and the earbuds were just a nice surprise (because who doesn’t need more earbuds?).  My absolute favorite part of the box was the perfume, which I ended up buying the next day because it smells so wonderful.  It’s a playful, yet sophisticated scent.

After giving one month a trial, I think I’m going to upgrade to a full year.  The Birchbox was such a fun little surprise, and at $10/month, it is an affordable fun surprise – one that I think I will be giving as gifts for birthdays and Christmas!

Hello world!

Welcome to “Always A Classy Lady,” a blog about crafting and ramblings about life.  I plan to blog about knitting, sewing, crafting in general, makeup and beauty projects, and random projects that I take on (like a lamp that I plan to completely change from its blah existence to complete classiness).

I could list my resume, but that would really be no fun.  So, like any project, lets just dive in and hope for the best result!
