October 2012 Birchbox

Last month’s Birchbox was a bit of a disappointment, so I was really looking forward to this month to decide whether I wanted to keep my subscription or not.  October’s box did not disappoint!

My little box of goodies included:

– Harvey Prince Eau Flirt – Lavender Pumpkin – 100 ml

– theBalm® cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer

– Mox Botanicals Lip Butter

– Mighty Leaf Tea – Tea Pouches

– LiQWd The Perfect Wave

– LiQWd SiLK Professional Deep Conditioning Treatment

I think my favorite out of the box was the Mary-Lou Manizer.  I’ve been using it everyday with my eye shadow to highlight my brow bone.  The Mox Botanicals Lip Butter smells tropical, and if I didn’t have so much lip product, I would totally buy it.  The perfume smells wonderful, but once again, I have way too much perfume.  I was so happy to get the tea pouches as a little extra in my box – I love tea, and love Mighty Leaf Tea.  I have not tried any of the LiQWd products yet.

I’m very happy with this month’s box, and am looking forward to what Birchbox has planned for the holidays.  If you want to get your Birchbox, click here.

September Birch Box

I need to get better at posting these the month I receive them!  Here is my September Birch Box:

My box contained:

– Kate Spade New York Twirl sampler

– Twistband hair tie

– Tili small bag

– WEI to Go Sleep Over Kit: Clean and Ideal Skin

– 21 drops Aromatherapy Blends in Focus

– Birchbox and Color Club Custom Collection Nailpolish in Status Update

I think my favorite part of the box was the Twistband hair tie.  I had heard about them before, but wasn’t about to spend $18 for 12, so it was nice to have one to try.  I love them!  But I still didn’t want to spend $18, so a quick pinterest search brought me to Lil Blue Boo who had a tutorial on making them!  For $6, I got 10 yards of brown fold over elastic (FOE), and made a bunch of work-appropriate colored Twistband knock-offs.  Now I think I know what I will be giving out for Christmas!

The perfume sample was ok.  Honestly, I’m tired of perfume samples – I have way too many perfumes already, and my new motto is that I can’t buy a new one until I use up one!  The Tili bag was pretty, but I found it useless because I carry my makeup around in make up bags.  I’m still on the fence about the 21 drops Aromatherapy Blend.  It smells nice, but it doesn’t last very long.  I do think it will be good for when I’m studying for the Florida Bar, because I will definitely be needing help focusing on studying for 2 1/2 months straight!

The nail polish is ok.  I’m not ready to give up my bright summer nail polish (and since I live in Florida, I don’t have to ever really give it up), but I’ll try it soon.  It’s just very dark.  I have not tried the WEI to Go Sleep Over Kit, mostly because I have an awesome Origins Checks and Balances face wash that I love.  However, I will probably bring it up to Chicago next time I visit.

I’m hoping next month is a better box.  If you want to join Birchbox, click here!

August 2012 Birchbox

Since I posted last month’s Birchbox review waaaaay too late, I figured I’d get this one up ASAP!  And, as a side note, I’m munching on a Larabar that I bought after I tried the sample in last month’s box – so delish!

I got my box on Wednesday, and I’m a little disappointed with it.  First, I only received 4 samples and a bonus, which felt like a little bit of a let down.  Then the samples I did receive were average.

First was the Schick Hydro Silk Razor.  This was the bonus item, and while razors are great, I’m pretty sure most women own a razor.  I have one, I love it, I don’t plan on changing it.  I actually bought the Schick Hydro Silk Razor when I was moving because I couldn’t find my regular razor, and I was not impressed with it.  So now I have an extra razor that I already own.

Next up was the Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream.  I used it and I wasn’t a huge fan of the smell.  But I have seen it at Sephora, so I figure I’ll use it then judge it.

I also got Caldrea Hand Soap samples.  I was not excited about these.  I haven’t tried them yet, but when I opened the box and saw them, it was one of those, “really, I got a sample of hand soap” moments.  Maybe it’s because I don’t spend $11 on hand soap – I buy Method ones at Target and love them.  I mean, I have them, so I will try them.

Then there was the perfume sample, Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy La Fleur.  While I like this scent, I just bought perfume last month.  I already own way too many perfumes, and probably enough sample sized perfumes to last me a year.  While sometimes its nice to have perfume, I hope they stop sending me perfume samples.

The winner of the box was stila smudge stick waterproof eye liner.  This one I am planning on purchasing.  I am in love.  I have it in black, but its not your typical black – it has sparkles in it, but not in an over-the-top way – more of a subtle sparkle.  I don’t think its very waterproof, but I’m happy with it nonetheless and will be buying this in the near future.

So while this box wasn’t a complete win, I did find an awesome new eyeliner.  I am going to keep getting it – hopefully next month’s box is AWESOME!
